THE Herblab.org'S NOTE

Colchicine is neutral and dissolvable in water, different from any other kinds of alkaloid substances. 90 cases of breast cancer were treated in Tianjin People's Hospital with a colchicine preparation, and 66.6% of the patients survived for over 5 year. In addition, colchicine may cause vomiting, poor appetite, abdominal distention and constipation. Sometimes it even causes intestine disorder and numbness of the four extremities. The drug may also result in leukopenia and reduction of the platelets, but seldom results in serious osteomyelitis which will disappear spontaneously after the cessation of the drug. The drug can still cause phlebitis and necrosis of the local tissues if the liquid of the drug leaks out of the vein. The drug is forbidden for patients with week physique, poor liver function and cardiovascular diseases.
