Folium Artemisiae Argyi(艾草)
It was stated in Comprehension of Materia Medica that:"The herb is acrid and warm,goes upwards and solidifies what it matches."
Folium Artemisiae Argyi is the dried leaf of Artemisia argyi L.et V.or Artemisia vulgaris L.of the family Compositae, both containing volatile oil and relatively abundant iodine,and being apt to absorb barium from the earth.

ANTICANCER PHARMACOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS
1.An anticancer activity of the herb has been proved with bean sprout screening method. 2.Bacteriophagic screening method for anticancer drugs confirmed that the herbs has an antiphagic action. 3.Artemisia vulgaris L.was found to have an inhibitive action on Hela-cells and on many types of transplanted tumors.
EXPERIMENTAL FORMULAS
For tumor of the thyroid:
1.3-6 Artemisia vulgaris L.Pills (each pill weighing 0.5 gram) are taken each time,three time a day. 2.Folium Artemisiae Argyi is blended with wheat flour to make cakes for eating frequently.(Anticancer Consultant)
For bleeding due to cancer of the nasal cavity:
Ash of Folium Artemisiae Argyi is inhaled or the decoction of the drug is taken.(Holy Prescriptions)
HISTORICAL COMMENTS
In Illustration of Materia Medica it was reported that:"The herb,when pilled with steamed Fructus Chaenomelis or decocted in water,for oral administration on empty stomach,exceedingly nourishes patients of the deficiency type." It was described in Dictionary of Chinese Materia Medica that:"To cure verruca vulgaris,fresh Folium Artemisiae Argyi is applied to the lesion several times daily until verruca vulgaris falls off spontaneously."
In Records of Herbs in the Jin E Mountain it was recorded that:"Folium Artemisiae Argyi is prescribed for goiter."
