Fructus tritici levis(小麦)
It is defined in Chinese Medical Dictionary that: "The drug is hot in taste, cold and non-toxic in nature, curing skin verrucosis and nevus, and decayed muscles. "
The drug is obtained from wheat stalk of the Gramineae family, produced in the regions North of the Yellow River, containing cellulose and polysaccharides.

ANTICANCER PHARMACOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS
1. Polysaccharides inhibits mice sarcoma-180 with an effective rate of 85-100%, when used with a dose of 100-200mg/kg. 2. Polysaccharides can stimulate the reticuloendothelial system, increase the immune reaction of the host against the specific antigen of the cancer cells. 3. Bacteriophagic screening test shows that the drug resists bacteriophage, indicating that it is against the activity of cancer. 4. Celiac injection of polysaccharides extracted from wheat bran for ten days inhibits white mice sarcoma-180 (250 mg/kg) with an effective rate of 61.9%. 5. The extract from the leaves and the roots can selectively inhibit sudden variation of
carcinogenic material in Ames experiment.
6. Phytohemagglutinin extracted from the malt can directly agglutinize cells of lymphoma and ascites cancer, this indicating that is can kill cancer cells.

For thyroid tumor:
Wheat flour and fresh Folium Artemisiae Argyi are made into steamed cake for oral taking daily. HISTORICAL COMMENTS
Ri Hua Zhi Materia Medica says that: "The young wheat can eliminate restlessness, clear away extreme heat, cure pestilence and calm the small intestine."
Supplementation to Materia Medica says that: "The drug cures jaundice and drunkenness."

To treat patients suffering from cancer with the deficient of heat, the author often, a part from the normal prescription, prescribes a handful of the young wheat for the patients to take as tea for clearing away heat and nourishing the vital energy.
It is reported in American and International News that colocancer can be effectively prevented by taking 15 grams of wheat bran each day. It was also reported in Trailitional Chinese Medicine Research Information (Vol. 6, 1978) that the drug was widely used in Japan to prevent and treat tumor.
