Herba Salviae Chinensis(石见穿)
In Medicinal Herbs of Suzhou it was reported that:"The herb,bitter and acrid in taste and neutral in nature, is used to cure dysphagia."
Herba Salviae Chinensis is the dried plant of Salvia chinensis Benth.of the family Labiatae,which is mainly distributed over area south of the Yellow River.

ANTICANCER PHARMACOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS
1.An anticancer activity of Herba Salviae Chinensis has been observed with bean sprout method in vitro. 2.Studies in vivo showed an inhibitive action of the herb on sarcoma-180 in rats.
EXPERIMENTAL FORMULAS
For cancer of the nasal cavity:
The decoction of Herba Salviae Chinensis (30g) is taken three times a day.If the fresh plant is available, the juice of 60 grams is taken.(Diagnosis,Treatment and Prevention of Tumors)
For lung cancer:
Herba Salviae Chinensis 60g Radix Amebiae 30g Radix Adenophorae 12g Radix Ophiopogonis 12g Radix rehmanniae 12g Radix Stemonae 12g Radix Sanguisorbae 12g Fructus Schisandrae 6g Fructus Gardeniae 9g Semen Vaccariae 9g Herba Taraxaci 15g These herbs are taken in decoction daily.(Diagnosis,Treatment and Prevention of Tumors)
For cervical cancer:
Herba Salviae Chinensis 30g Herba Artemisiae Anomalae 30g Herba Patriniae Heterophyllae 30g Rhizoma Cyperi 15g These herbs are taken in decoction,twice daily.(National Collection of Medicinal Herbs)
For various types of cancer:
1.Herba Salviae Chinensis and Herba Scutellariae Barbatae(30 grams ecah)are decocted and taken frequently as a drink.(Manual of Practical Anticancer Drugs) 2.An oral dose of 10ml of Herba Salviae Chinensis mixture(Each 100ml contains 200 grams of Herba Salviae Chinensis, 100 grams of Scutellariae Barbatae and certain amount of sucrose) is taken three times a day.(Anticancer Herbal Preparations)
For ulcerated cancer of the skin:

HISTORICAL COMMENTS
In Compendium of Medicinal Herbs it was recorded that:"The herb is used mainly to cure osteodynia,leprosy and carbuncle." In records of Jiangsu Medicinal Plants it was described that:"Being similar to Radix Salviae Mitiorrhizae in efficacy,Herba Salviae Chinensis is often used to treat chronic hepatitis and early cirrhosis, through promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.The dose for each administration is 9-15 grams and the herb is often used in compound recipes and taken in decoction."
