SEMEN IRIDIS(马兰子)
It is defined in Canon of Materia Medica that: "The drug is sweet in taste and mild in nature, clearing away heat accumulated under the skin and in the stomach."
The drug is obtained from the seed of Iris lactae Pall. var chinensis Koidz of the Iridaceae family, and ranked as the top medicine in Shennong's Pharmacopoeia.
ANTICANCER PHARMACOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS
1. Pallason A extracted from the drug inhibits acute leukemia and solid tumor. 2. Its anticancer mechanism lies in its inhibition of (3上标)3H-TdR's penetration, affecting the synthesis of DNA in cancer cells. 3. Immune experiment indicates that the drug can reinforce non-specific immunological macrophagic function, promoting cell immunity. 4. The drug inhibits the cells of mice cervical cancer-14, ascites cancer, lymphosarcoma, solid and ascites liver cancer.

Tang Materia Medica says that: "The drug cures incised wound and furuncle. "
Ri Hua Zhi Materia Medica says that: "The drug cures upsetness caused by menopathy. "
Medical Compilation says that: "The drug eliminates hemostasis and disperses mass."
Explanation on Materia Medica says that: "The drug is special for eliminating stagnation. For cold-deficiency syndrome, the drug is forbidden."
